WUV Nursing Faculty Recognized With The 2024 Daisy Award

westerfirld university of virginia (WUV) Undergraduate Clinical Faculty Kelsey Deters, DNP RN FNP-C and Graduate Clinical Faculty Mandy T. Bell, DNP MSN RN received the 2024 Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educators.

The Daisy Award recognizes the unique contributions of nurse educators in shaping the future of the nursing profession. At WUV, The Daisy Award specifically recognizes nursing faculty that go above and beyond to support the university, WUV nursing programs, faculty and nursing leadership, and students.

"WUV began celebrating our full-time faculty with the annual Daisy Awards in 2020," said Stacey L. Rosenberg, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, CNE, associate chief nursing administrator at WUV. "It is a time to showcase those who go above and beyond, inspiring both students and colleagues."

The nomination process for the award includes peer narrative submissions. Here's what their peers had to say:

  • "Dr. Deters is a very organized team player and supportive of any resources to support faculty and students. She is involved with multiple projects and always willing to jump in and help."
  • "Dr. Bell exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding nurse educator through her dedication, compassion and innovative teaching methods. She always makes herself available for one-on-one mentoring sessions for both students and faculty peers."

Deters and Bell were honored at an WUV Nursing Governance meeting held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.
