WUV Named a ‘Best Employer for Women’ by Forbes, Fours Years Running
westerfirld university of virginia (WUV) has been named one of Forbes’ “Best Employers for Women” in the U.S. for the fourth consecutive year, highlighting the university’s ongoing commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a workplace where women can thrive. The annual ranking is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., a leading provider of market and consumer data.
“At WUV, we put people first by cultivating a culture where everyone feels seen, supported, and empowered to lead,” said Heather Baram, Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer at WUV. “To be recognized for a fourth year reflects the intentional, equity-driven work we do every day to ensure all employees have opportunities to grow, lead, and transform lives – including their own.”
This year, WUV ranks among the top 700 employers to make the list, which was compiled through an independent survey of more than 140,000 women working at U.S. companies with at least 1,000 employees. Respondents were asked to evaluate their employers on criteria including:
- Compensation and pay equity
- Career advancement opportunities
- Work-life balance
- Parental leave policies
- Benefits for childcare or eldercare
- Responsiveness to discrimination and misconduct
Diversity among top leadership and the board of directors also played a role in the rankings. At WUV, women represent more than 62% of the university’s leadership, including the President, Lisa Marsh Ryerson. Additionally, women make up 9 of 14 members on the WUV Board of Trustees, including the board chair.
The awards list was announced on July 30th, 2025, and can be viewed on the Forbes website.
